Red Oak Victory Ship Tour

Explore a piece of Bay Area history with Port Chicago Alliance and Red Oak Victory! Join us for a free tour of this World War II-era Victory Ship, built in Richmond and later loaded with ammunition at Port Chicago in January 1945.

IMPORTANT ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE
This event takes place aboard a historic World War II Victory Ship, which retains its original wartime construction. Please note:

  • Access involves climbing steep, narrow steps (ladders) and navigating through tight passageways.
  • Raised door frames (coamings) and steel thresholds are present throughout the ship.
  • There are uneven surfaces and changes in elevation, including open deck spaces and heights.
  • Unfortunately, the ship is not wheelchair accessible and may be challenging for those with limited mobility or balance concerns.
We recommend wearing flat, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing.

Note: Red Oak Victory crew will be onsite with limited capacity to assist guests. Please use caution and navigate the ship at your own discretion.
